Rogersville church hosts second annual live, drive-through nativity scene
ROGERSVILLE, Mo. – Families in the Ozarks can celebrate the reason for the Christmas season once again by driving through a local live nativity scene hosted by First Baptist Church of Rogersville. The event will be held on Saturday, December 14th and Sunday December 15th, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on its property in downtown Rogersville near the intersection of Center and Main Street.
This year, attendees will see an expanded realistic retelling of the origin story of Jesus Christ through their own eyes and the comfort of their own vehicle. “We’re excited to add more animals, more characters, and overall, host a bigger, scripture-based event this year,” said co-organizer Denise Wilkerson.
While viewing the live nativity, attendees can tune their car radio to a designated FM station to hear Christmas music and a message from the Church’s senior pastor, Aaron Ipock.
“It’s our prayer that you’ll come visit and experience this event,” said Ipock. “You cannot spell Christmas without Christ, and our desire is to be a blessing to our community as we share the birth of Christ.”
The live nativity will be portrayed by real persons in the community and live animals – such as donkeys, sheep, chickens, and a camel. Approximately 60 people are participating in the production this year. The event will highlight multiple scenes in the nativity story. For visitors needing immediate prayer, a tent will be available and staffed with volunteers.
“You’ll be given the opportunity to actually view a retelling of this life-altering event through your own eyes,” said co-organizer Lora Hopper. “It is truly an amazing experience.” Hopper was also instrumental in organizing “Journey to Bethlehem” – an area-favorite Christmas event held at the Church for several years.
This event is a great opportunity for each of us to pause during this busy time of year and remember the true meaning of Christmas. First Baptist Church of Rogersville invites you to experience the reason for the season this Christmas – either night, Saturday December 14th or Sunday, December 15th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.!
The Live Nativity is a free event. Attendees this year are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or monetary donation to be given to Safe Haven Now, a local community food pantry.
