Letter To Our Church Family 12-21-23
Dear Church Family,
I want to begin by saying thank you for how you have welcomed our family into this fellowship. Julie & I are constantly talking about how encouraging & loving you all have been to our family as we have begun our ministry here at FBC. Keep up the open-hearted hospitality as we pray for God to send people to our church. We want our guests to feel welcomed, loved, and like they belong here at FBC.
With 2023 quickly coming to a close, it’s time to look ahead to 2024 and as we get ready to begin a new year, I want our focus to be on prayer. Praying with expectant hearts for God to do incredible things in and through our congregation. On January 8th, we will launch a 21 Day Prayer & Fasting time, that I would like our entire congregation to participate in. As we seek the Lord’s guidance for us as a body of Christ, I believe the best way we can begin is through prayer & fasting. It’s through prayer & fasting, that we are able to draw close to God and understand His discernment better. More information to come the next couple of weeks leading up to this.
We will begin the first two Sundays of 2024 with a Sermon series titled, “Out with the Old: Renewing our Minds.” If we aren’t careful, we can quickly allow certain worldly things to lead us away from being in close relationship with God. It’s my prayer as we navigate through this sermon series, that as we pray & fast, we will be challenged to let go. To let go of things that weigh us down, regrets that hold us back, and destructive mindsets that are grounded in lies instead of in God’s truth.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!
We will then launch a four-week sermon series that will take us into February titled, “The Holiness of God.” During this sermon series, we will be challenged to meditate deeply on the Holiness of God. Some questions we will be asked during this series; What does it mean that God is holy? What does God’s holiness say about his character? How can we come close to a holy God? My prayer as we navigate through this series, is that we will clearly see-through God’s word, how the holiness of God is what sets him apart from everyone else, and that He is able to set us apart from the world around us to fulfill his will.
FBC Church family, I am excited to begin this new year with you, and I am excited to see how God will use His bride of Christ to grow in a deeper knowledge and understanding of Him, and to be an effective witness in our workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and families.
